Updating the news I have of my daughter Alia Bouklcahi
Unfortunately, the situation remains unchanged and I’ve had no news whatsoever, otherwise, you would have heard it from me personally or through our socials.
Currently, I’m still without any news about Alia. It’s been several years since I’ve had any, and it’s not due to a lack of effort.
I’ve reached out several times to her paternal family, as her father was the one who abducted her, and it’s likely he left her with his relatives. However, neither of them is willing to provide any information or even confirm her current place of residence.
My visit to Algeria to see Alia
And it wasn’t just a matter of reaching out. As usual, I spent nearly a month in Algeria at the beginning of the new academic year. I made several visits to Alia’s family’s village. During this time, I managed to be in contact with her eldest uncle. Yet again, he made it clear that he wouldn’t be giving out any information about Alia, not even the smallest update.
Still, I pressed on and experienced the gratifying moment of discovering that in Cherchell, the name Alia Bouklachi is now widely recognized. Every person I encountered acknowledged they knew who I was talking about, that they knew about this family. Each time, they would restrain from providing further details. However, it was clear that their sentiments aligned: the abduction of children is -harshly- looked down upon in Algeria, even when the mother is French. Recently, the Bouklachi family reputation has taken a huge blow within the Cherchell community.
What does it mean for Alia
But what is the cost for Alia in this case? As disdain for her paternal family runs deep in Cherchel, du to their distasteful behaviour, does she in turn have to endure the consequences?
I can’t speak for her, but I fervently hope not. Instead, I am optimistic that the people of Cherchell are rather aiding her in navigating the daily ordeal of abuse she faces.
What has become of Alia Bouklachi?
To summarise, up to this point, I’ve had no more news of my daughter than you have. I persist in my search of course, exploring all the clues available so that one day I can get back in touch with her.
I would like to express my gratitude, as our current position is the result of the collective efforts of those who, publicly or discreetly, stand by Alia, offer their support, and share her story in France, Algeria, and beyond.
I know that when I eventually receive news about my daughter, it will be thanks to one or more among you.

Sharing is helping Alia Bouklachi find her mother.
