Many of you have asked me about Alia, and what news I had. Unfortunately, I don’t have any.
Alia is still held hostage by her father’s family in Algeria. I still don’t know where, and they still refuse to tell me anything about her.
Where is Alia?
Right now, I don’t know exactly where Alia is.
She may be in a small Algerian coastal town called Cherchell. This is where her father grew up, and where her grandparents lived until they passed away.
But she might just be somewhere else. Her father had me believe for years that she lived with him in Blida, another Algerian town (not at all coastal, two hour away from Cherchell).
It is also possible that she lives in Algiers, the capital city, with one of her father’s new wives, because that is where she works.
In any case, I have no address, I have no certainty of Alia’s location, and I need to see things as they really are : Alia could actually be anywhere.
How does she live ?
As a mother, another question obviously haunts me, beyond not knowing where my daughter is: how is she, and how does she live?
We already know that Alia was forced to drop out of school by one of her father’s wives when he was arrested. This fact is a certainty since I was provided with an investigation carried out by the Algerian authorities in 2019.
The mystery remains as to why she had to drop out of school.
Perhaps she never attended that school, her family might just have produced fake papers to make me search fo her in the wrong town.
Perhaps because her new step-mother (who’s the principal of this school) preferred to send Alia to live with her grandmother after her father got arrested. We will probably never know the truth about this.
But if Alia isn’t going to school, what does she do all day ? Is she stuck at home ? And most importantly, how is she?
Alia’s health
You might know that Alia was born with a malformation, inherited from her father. Her half-sister also has it, to a lesser extent and she did not need surgery. Alia, on the other hand, had to undergo surgery at 6 months to be able to walk and one day have a chance of having children herself. However, she was abducted before completing her follow-up examinations at the hospital.
A French police investigation proved that none of Alia’s medical records had ever been requested : this means that even when Alia was living with her father, he did not provide her with any medical care. So I dare not imagine what her follow-up might be today, without him. When I met her uncle last year, I asked him how she was doing. He didn’t seem aware of the fact that Alia had had surgery. I sincerely believe that no one in the family had been informed (before my arrival) that she needed a regular follow-up with a neurosurgeon specialized in pediatrics.
It is therefore very clear to me that no one takes care of her in Algeria. And it is worrying.
Let’s wrap up
I’m sorry not to be able to give you any news of Alia. Believe me, I wish I could, as it would mean I know something myself.
But the only people who know where Alia is and how she is are refusing to share any information about her. If Alia hasn’t been abducted (which is what they claim) why are they hiding her address? Why don’t they contact me? Why haven’t I heard from Alia, when I’m her mother and they know full well that I’m looking for her?
Quite simply because she is the hostage of her father’s family, in addition to having been kidnapped.
Just like every day since she was abducted, I have been fighting for her, and I will continue to do so tirelessly until she get her rights back.
Sharing is helping Alia Bouklachi find her mother.
If you know anyone in Algeria, please share her story, so that one day she can get her life back.
